Tony Stockwell

Wednesday 2nd May at 7:30pm

The popular star of TV’s Street Psychic, Psychic Private Eyes and Psychic Academy, Tony Stockwell has a long established credibility as one of the top Intuitive Mediums and has shared the stage all round the world with international mediums such as Colin Fry, James van Praagh and Lisa Williams. Tony  demonstrates his belief that those who have passed can communicate with their loved ones with detailed messages frequently including names, dates and locations and all  delivered with emotion, sensitivity and empathy. The evening may include psychometry, photographs readings and psychic prediction.

Recent legislative guidelines insist that any Evening of Mediumship should be billed ‘for entertainment purposes’. Tony certainly uses his natural wit, showmanship and Cockney charisma to entertain but more important, Mediumship has the potential to change someone’s life and instil in them a sense of peace, comfort and purpose. We hope that nobody can fail to come away untouched by the experience

Sir Michael Parkinson - Our Kind of Music

Thursday 3rd May at 7:30pm

A live theatrical journey through Sir Michael Parkinson’s musical DNA in words, pictures and performance

Alongside his interviewing and writing Sir Michael Parkinson has spent much of his career promoting the appreciation of the music of the Great American Songbook and encouraging those of the new generation who are fighting to keep that flame alive.  In the process, he has developed an encyclopaedic knowledge of that genre as well as interviewing some of the greats and finding time to talent spot the likes of Bublé, Krall and Cullum.  But he is much more than a jazzer.  His taste in music takes in everything from Razorlight to Paul Simon, The Beatles to Oasis with the consequence that Sir Michael’s seal of approval came to mean a great deal with every record label in the country wanting to bottle his A&R talent.

https://we.tl/ICS5XpW1zR

This passion and love of music in all its forms is celebrated in a new live theatrical show.  In conversation with his long-term producer, collaborator and son Mike, using clips from his classic and extensive archive and featuring live performances by the multi-talented Joe Stilgoe we take a fascinating, entertaining and informative journey to the musical heart of Sir Michael Parkinson via Barnsley, sixties Manchester, Wood Lane and Broadcasting House.

MARK STEEL: EVERY LITTLE THING' S GONNA BE ALRIGHT

Off the Kerb Production

Thursday 17th May at 8pm

This time last year, it seemed highly unlikely the UK would vote to leave the EU; we had a reasonable opposition to the Tory Government; Donald Trump was a buffoon who surely wasn’t going to beat Hilary Clinton and Mark was living the married suburban ideal, a year later it’s all gone to absolute shit!  But don’t worry, as Mark thinks Every Little Thing’s Gonna Be Alright.

Mark’s sell-out show Who Do I Think I Am, revealed his natural father was a world backgammon champion. Now the star of Radio 4’s Mark Steel’s in Town, and newspaper columnist of the year, is back on the road with a new show, guaranteed to make the world seem even more mental than it is.

Mark has written and presented many series of Mark Steel’s In Town on BBC Radio 4 (new series out soon) and toured it live around the UK. Mark has presented the BAFTA nominated Mark Steel Lectures for BBC2, is a regular on BBC One’s Have I Got News For You and Radio 4’s Newsquiz.  He’s also appeared on BBC2’s QI and Room 101. We've Only Just Begun - a Celebration of the Life and Music of Karen Carpenter

Wednesday 23rd May at 7:30pm

Karen was the voice of the multi-hit making group The Carpenters who along with her brother Richard, scored an unprecedented 17 consecutive billboard US top ten hits. The timeless quality of the Carpenters music makes it as relevant today as when they scored their first UK hit with Close to you in 1970.

Karen Carpenter had a unique voice, so unique in fact that it has proven almost impossible to duplicate its deep smoky emotional edge, creating that uniqueness that is so hard to perfect. Now for the very first time in over 30 years the voice that melted a thousand romantic hearts lives again through Toni Lee, in this 2-hour touring concert show “We’ve Only Just Begun, the Carpenters Greatest Love Songs”.

“We’ve Only Just Begun” is a celebration of the Carpenter’s music and the spirit of Karen Carpenter. Every song in the show is a chart hit, brilliantly performed by vocalist Toni Lee, with her Big Band and singers. This high quality production includes an audio visual presentation.

So close your eyes and re-live the magic of one of the greatest female voices in pop music history as Toni Lee becomes Karen Carpenter and sings over 22 hits including Close to You, We’ve Only Just Begun, Superstar, For All we Know, Yesterday Once More, Top of the World, Jambalaya, Please Mr Postman, Only Yesterday, Solitaire, A Kind of Hush, Sweet Sweet Smile and more.

Crooners

Friday 25th May at 7:30pm

This modern world does not always seem the place for men of style and vigour. Men with a penchant for sentiment, romance and charm. Men who own tap shoes.

Crooners follows the story of three very British gentlemen who exhume the characteristics of a crooner; suave, self-assured, stylish, as they defend the role of a crooner in our modern world. By the very same nature, it is not always obvious that these characteristics are adopted quite so well by the quintessentially British. Cue a splendiferous injection of British comedy. Tongue firmly in cheek. And an Outrageous injection of Big Band Swing.

This rip roaring comedy musical has been wowing audiences with its witty and exhilarating show full of satirical energy, hilarious one liners, laugh out loud silliness and superb musical numbers.

Featuring the outstanding and uncompromising live, on stage musicianship of the 9-piece band ‘The Mini Big Band’, these Crooners feature songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Matt Monro, Nat King Cole and Bobby Darin. Expect some Lady is a Tramp, Come Fly With Me, L.O.V.E, When You’re Smiling, Fly Me To The Moon, Beyond The Sea, Mac The Knife any many more…

Danny Baker GOOD TIMES CHARLIE'S BACK

Wednesday 30th May at 7:30pm

My fellow Vaudevillians,

Following the extraordinary success of the Cradle To Grave tour I was asked to reconsider my initial statement that I would never undertake such a venture again. The applause of the public can be a seductive narcotic and weaker souls than I would be tempted to repeat the thrills harvested during that   ‘uproarious whirligig of joy’ simply to bolster their already outsize egos.  After much reflection I have decided that I cannot allow such rampant narcissism to cloud my judgment. I said ‘one farewell’ tour’ and I meant ‘one farewell tour’. There will be no more.

Therefore I am pleased to announce that, to mark this momentous decision, I will be embarking on a nationwide, high-principled, peppy series of one-night-stands calling at dozens of theatres around the country starting in May 2018.

These exhibitions will be startling, high kicking, fresh, eruptive and often under three hours long. On this, once again, you have my word. To help me mark the festivities I will joined on some nights by both Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan – two of the nicest dogs I have ever owned.

I hope people will understand my resolve never to tour again and also why these upcoming performances are absolutely necessary to mark such a declaration.

I hope you can once more attend to help celebrate my iron will in this matter and on the night reflect that, even in these fickle times, there are still men who will hold fast to their principles.

I am that man. So vote for me.  Sorry, not ‘vote’, I meant ‘come and see’.

It will be almost certainly your last chance.  To quote the philosopher Slocombe, “I am unanimous in that.’

Now raise the curtain, pour the drinks, play the music - because here we go again…
