Audition for Lancaster Footlights


Lancaster Footlights auditions are open to anyone. You do not need to become a member until cast. If not stated otherwise, auditions are held at the Grand Theatre on St Leonardgate. (Please go to the door at the top of the ramp at the side of the theatre. (if not open, knock loudly) Experienced actors or beginners are all welcome. We also welcome anyone who wishes to help backstage rather than “tread the boards”…watch this space! If you are interested in helping with set, props or costumes, why not come along and watch auditions and meet the team.

Hobson’s Choice Auditions

 Hobson’s Choice by Harold Brighouse has been chosen to be the production to mark the Centenary of the founding of Lancaster Footlights in 1920 Harold Brighouse was President of Lancaster Footlights during the 1920’s 

The following performances will take place in March 2020 on the following dates:

6th, 7th (matinee), 8th (matinee), 12th,13th,14th

The play will be co-directed by Alan Mathews and Carol Williamson 

A further audition is to be held in the meeting room at the theatre on Sunday 29th September at 7pm for a young lady aged 18 – 30’s 

The scene is Salford near Manchester and the period is around 1880

Alice Hobson Spritely – age 23

Maggie Hobson Determined – age 30

Vickey Hobson Young, pretty – age 21

Albert Prosser Smart, well dressed – age 26

Henry Horatio Hobson – large, loud,  likes a drink, age 55

Mrs Hepworth – elderly, posh, rather curt

Timothy Wadlow (Tubby) – elderly, thin, but with a paunch

William Mossop – poor clothing, tallish, age 30

Jim Heeler- Aagrocer, Hobson’s pal, age 55

Ada Figgins – young, one good scene

Freddy Beenstock – respectable, young, 20’s

Dr Macfarlane – a domineering Scot, 50’s
