John Barnes is a former professional footballer and manager, widely regarded as one of England's greatest players, known for his exceptional skills and contributions to Liverpool FC and the England national team.
Barnes began his professional career with Watford FC in 1981, where he quickly made a name for himself. His exceptional dribbling skills and pace helped Watford secure promotion to the First Division. In 1987, he transferred to Liverpool FC for £900,000, where he became a key player during one of the club's most successful periods, winning two league titles and two FA Cups.
During his time at Liverpool, Barnes scored 106 goals in 403 appearances and was known for his remarkable performances, including a stunning individual goal against Brazil in the 1984 World Cup. He earned 79 caps for the England national team, scoring 12 goals, and was the first black player to win the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year award in 1988.
