Lancaster Footlights present: Ladies Day
In 2005, for one season only, Royal Ascot came to York and four workmates from a fish factory in Hull decided they would go to ‘Ladies Day’! So, it’s off with the hairnets, the overalls and white wellies as they head off in fancy hats, armed with fizz, for a day of glitz and glamour. Pearl, Shelley, Jan and Linda all have different expectations and on their day out, all of their fortunes DO change – but in ways none of them had expected.
This play, which has been performed all over the world (recently at The Octagon in Bolton) looks at female friendship, hopes and dreams – a heart-warming yet poignant story of ‘ordinary’ women who seize the chance to change their lives and others besides.
For Grand Theatre audiences, it’s simply a dead cert winner!
