Stage Manager

Location: Lancaster Grand Theatre (Lancaster Footlights and Grand Theatre CIO)

Type: Variable Hours to align with performances on evenings, weekends and weekdays.

Due to the nature of the work, shifts typically finish late, and therefore it may not be suitable for individuals who do not have their own transport.

Work Pattern: Some seasonal variation particularly in August (with reduced performances due to maintenance). This role is shared with other dedicated post-holders and typically offers a minimum of 10 hours per month averaged over a year (comprising circa 2 (five hour) performances and paid meetings & development training) however this can increase at busy periods and to cover absences. Rotas, meetings and training are usually arranged with advance notice, to the mutual benefit of both role holder and theatre.

Hourly rate: £15.30ph (plus holiday pay)

Role Overview: As a Stage Manager at Lancaster Grand Theatre, you will play a pivotal role in leading the safe and smooth operation backstage during performance times. Reporting to the Deputy Theatre Manager (Operations) prior to performances, and Duty Manager during performances, you will lead safe operations backstage.

You will work closely with contracted technician/s and clients, the Stage Manager is responsible for safe operation both on and backstage (comprising the area behind the proscenium arch). The role requires communication, leadership and an understanding of both creative and logistical elements of theatre.
