A variety show for Mental Awareness

Sunday 28th January at 7:30pm

An evening of superb variety entertainment for an excellent and much needed local cause!

Book today, brighten up a dark January evening and have a great night out, raising funds for local not-for-profit groups which support people with mental health problems alongside NHS teams and help raise awareness of the fact that mental health issues can affect absolutely anyone, from any background, in any profession, at any time. We need to lose the stigma associated with mental health and accept that it's not something that should bring judgement on the sufferer but is an illness which deserves treatment without bias, just the same as any physical condition. The money raised from ticket sales and the raffle will be distributed to groups working with people suffering with mental  health issues in the Bay Radio area.

The following amazing acts have given their time and trouble at no cost in order to support mental health awareness and groups, some have agreed to perform as they themselves, or friends and relatives, have experienced many of the issues addressed by the various teams in our area.

Danny Matthews - The Bay Radio’s ever-cheerful breakfast and Solid Gold Sunday host will compere the evening for us, poor Winston and Lulu have to stay at home…

Holly Lovelady - a delightful singer/songwriter from Kendal who has been recognised by BBC Introduces 2016 and 2017. She has performed at many, many events in the local area including the Christmas Lights Switch On in Kendal, Lancaster and Morecambe.

David Kay - an independent singer/songwriter from South Cumbria, offering a range of original music, from soft folk ballads to upbeat acoustic anthems. These short and quirky solo acoustic songs are the result of a wide range of musical influences combined with lyrical content about everyday situations and emotions.

Music is available to hear on Soundcloud:

and Bandcamp:

Greenheart - a fantastic Lancaster band featuring Scotty Moorhouse, James Fraser, Laurence (Loz) Hamilton.  Creating amazing sounds using Didgeridoo, guitar loops and mesmerising drum beats. Contemporary Folk, Pop, Jazz.

Steff Todd - a comedian who over a short space of time has already made her mark, with a unique mix of sharp one-liners and celebrity impressions. She is well-known on the comedy circuit and is regularly booked as an opening act or MC. Her impressions can be found here

Mazza Vee - a multi talented artist and performance poet from Liverpool/Lancaster, who has a remarkable way of expressing emotion in verse. Mazza will perform a poem addressing a mirror on stage and express the emotion many of us find difficult to deal with or explain.

Together - for one night only, a group of patients and local GPs, NHS staff/students and representatives from local support groups and choirs will perform I Love My Life, a Robbie Williams song, which has a powerful message of getting through the difficult times with the support of others and looking forward to a time when life is more enjoyable. If you are a patient, former patient, NHS staff or from a local support group and you would like to join us please email we’d love to have you, being good is not a requirement it’s all about being together! Directed by Anni Tracy from More Music Morecambe.

Jennifer's Dancers: a brilliant, fresh street dance crew from Carnforth with loads of energy and immaculate timing!

Voce -Singing  ‘Popular Music with a Classical Twist', Voce (Phil McIntosh, Chris Warby, Iain Nicholson & Mark Johnson) invite their audience to enjoy music from the likes of Il Divo, Christina Peri, Luciano Pavarotti, Snow Patrol, Alfie Boe, Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, Elvis, Josh Groban, Russell Watson, Take That, Hits of the West End and more with their crisp, stylish and entertaining delivery Phil and Iain provide the exhilarating and exciting top tenor voices, while Chris’ cultured and eclectic 2nd tenor compliments, enhances and anchors the sound, allowing Mark’s alluringly rich and elegant baritone to complete the sound that is simply, excitingly and very uniquely Voce

Sheelagh Houlihan - a performance poet with a wild and comedic side, blending both wit and wisdom, to suit all styles. @SheelaghHoulihanPoet

The programme will contain details and contacts for local support groups as well as key messages from the NHS for people to keep as a directory of help.

If you are involved in a mental health support group or not for profit counselling organisation and you would like to be included in the programme and  potentially benefit from the show proceeds,(if you are not yet in touch with us), please contact at your earliest convenience.
