Position: Front of House Coordinator
Location: Lancaster Grand Theatre, Lancaster
Pay: £14 per hour
Job Type: Part-time

About Us: Lancaster Grand Theatre, managed by Lancaster Footlights & Grand Theatre CIO, is a historic and vibrant 460-seat performing arts venue. Hosting a mix of professional and amateur performances, we are dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests, performers, staff, and volunteers. We aim to protect and promote this cultural asset while supporting our community.

Role Overview: We are seeking passionate and motivated individuals to join our team as Front of House Coordinators. In this role, you will ensure the smooth operation of all customer-facing aspects during performances. Reporting to the Duty Manager, you will lead ushers, concession, and merchandise staff, as well as volunteers, to deliver exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, lead, and motivate a team to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Customer Service: Ensure guests receive a warm welcome and appropriate assistance, resolving any issues or emergencies.
  • Audience Management: Implement effective audience control measures for safety and order.
  • Venue Presentation: Maintain cleanliness and presentation throughout the theatre.
  • Ticketing Operations: Oversee ticket scanning and entry processes.
  • Coffee Bar & Ice Cream Operations: Manage sales and inventory.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Performance Evaluation: Provide feedback and support to front-of-house staff and volunteers.

Requirements:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in volunteer liaison and coordination
  • Ability to handle emergencies calmly and competently
  • Excellent organisational and customer service skills
  • Flexibility in working hours, particularly during peak seasons

Position: Trustee / Chair of the Board

About Lancaster Footlights & Grand Theatre CIO: Lancaster Grand Theatre, first opened in 1782, is the third oldest provincial theatre in the UK. Operated by the Lancaster Footlights & Grand Theatre Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), this Grade II heritage listed venue seats 460 people and hosts a diverse range of entertainment for the local community and beyond. The charity is reliant on its own fundraising efforts, primarily through hosting professional acts, providing a venue for local societies, and staging its own ‘Footlights’ performances. Our team includes a mix of full-time staff, part-time staff, and around 200 dedicated volunteers.

Role Overview: We are embarking on the recruitment process for new Trustees and potential Chairs of the Board to join our Board starting in September 2024. We aim to expand our Board from 8 to 12 members to reflect a broader range of skills, diversity, and representation.

Key Dates:

  • Coffee Morning: Saturday, 6th July, 10:00 AM at Lancaster Grand Theatre. Join us for a coffee morning to tour the theatre and meet existing Board members and the theatre team.
  • Application Deadline: 12:00 PM on 16th August 2024.
  • Election Date: Trustees will be appointed by election at the AGM on 16th September 2024.

Application Process:

  1. Attend the coffee morning on 6th July to learn more about the role.
  2. Submit a Charity Commission declaration form confirming you are not barred from standing as a trustee.
  3. Provide a summary of your skills and experience (up to 500 words).
